AI “solution” exposes millions of personal information records

An AI chatbot's inadequate security implementation went into production, putting at risk the personal information of millions of McDonald's job applicant's.

McHire is a chatbot recruiting platform for McDonalds. It’s used by about 90% of all McDonald’s franchises. The chatbot, named Olivia and created by Paradox.ai, is used by millions of job applicants to submit personal information, screen personal job preferences, and perform a pre-hire personality test.

And thanks to a shoddy implementation, it also exposed the personal information of over 64 million people.

Maybe it’s not that surprising. Reddit is rife with posts that mock the McHire chatbot for it’s nonsensical responses, an experience that’s surely frustrating for many prospective applicants:
